Training Course: Hydrogen Pathways – Introduction and Overview (23.RP2.0191) – Completed

FEnEx CRC and industrial collaborators have developed an on-line app (H2 Pathways) that allows for determination of the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) and the emissions intensity (EI) for a wide range of hydrogen supply chains commencing in Australia; this includes consideration of the specific Australia location for hydrogen production, storage and/or conversion.

Objectives

The open-source version provides an excellent tool to facilitate a two-day intensive training course detailing various options for hydrogen supply chains. This interactive course was built around the app (as well as other UWA software for more dynamic production predictions based on local weather conditions) and hence details the options available for hydrogen production, storage and transport. The course is designed in two forms: one for a technical audience and one for a non-technical audience. It can be offered either on-line or in person.

Project Findings

The course was trialled on a FEnEx CRC PHD cohort – feedback from this event improved both the content of the course as well as the functionality of the App. The project also provides a template for the development of other short training courses around other apps and software being developed or developed by FEnEx CRC.

Recommendations

The course be periodically offered as part of the KETH training activities. In terms of the App, this should be extended such that AI tools are able to automatically and periodically (or even in near real time) update the input data set (of item costings, efficiency etc.)
