Tom Hughes is a Senior Lecturer in the Resources Program at Monash University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research bridges academia and industry by delivering critical measurements and models that improve the efficiency and sustainability of energy technologies. He currently leads the New Energy Technologies theme within the Woodside Monash Energy Partnership (WMEP). Through this partnership, Tom has worked on liquid hydrogen storage and transport as well as liquid air energy storage. His broader research covers thermophysical property measurements, environmentally friendly refrigerants, carbon capture, and natural gas processing – all aimed at reducing energy consumption and emissions while minimising environmental impact.
