3 Minute Thesis Competition creates a Buzz at the FEnEx CRC Conference

June 13, 2022

The 3 Minute Thesis competition is the opportunity for PhD scholars to translate often complex concepts into easy-to-understand sound bites for the general population.

The Future Energy Exports CRC PhD scholars were invited to take part in the competition prior to the inaugural conference in Fremantle with the promise of an international travel voucher to an academic conference of their choice.

We love audience participation, and so with a sense of great expectation, the conference attendees with voting power in their hands, voted for the best of three final presentations. The feedback on this conference activity was extremely positive; the audience had fun!

Lucie Desage, Curtin University PhD Scholar was the winner, with Jia Ming Goh, University of Melbourne and Vincent Jusko, The University of Western Australia worthy finalists.

It was clear Lucie was pleased to have won the competition, she said “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to present my research at the 3MT competition, it was a rewarding and useful learning experience,” and “my PhD project which is about designing systems enabling the storage of renewable energy taking a more mindful utilisation of energy. I hope my research results will have a positive impact on our environment and society.”

All the PhD scholar submissions can be found on the FEnEx CRC website https://bit.ly/3IJpNHL
